Greek Relief, mourning Athena
Athena's parents are Zeus and Metis.("Athena") Athena was born from Zeus's head a full grown adult in full armor.("Athena") Zeus was given a prophecy when his wife was pregnant saying that his son, that was to be born after Athena, would replace him so he swallowed Metis while she was still pregnant with Athena.("Athena") Athena is the one that helped to create the chariot.("Athena") Athena gave women the knowledge that they need to do the duties that were required of the women in the home.("Athena")
Athena is the goddess of wisdom.("wisdom") Her ideas were used to benefit the people of Greece, wile at the same time getting everything done. ("wisdom") Athena resembles the Giants and the Sparti in the way she was born, they all were born in full armor.("Athena") "Athena is a maiden goddess"("Athena") she does not fit in with the ideas of the goddess Aphrodite she prefers workmanship and logical warfare.("Athena") "Athena has two principal honors,or divine spheres, of interest: war and craftsmanship."("Athena") She also the source of human knowledge.("Athena") She has the male knowledge of construction and female knowledge of traditional home activites.

Athena likes war, as does Ares, while she represents the good in war.("Athena") The differences between Athena and Ares were shown many times on the battlefield, such as in the Illiad.("Athena") Athena typically wins when she and Ares are fighting, because wisdom is better than brute strength. ("Athena") She also has a cloak that can not be pierced by spears called aegis. "(Athena") The cloak was made from goat skin and was decorated with snakes on the fringe and had the head of Medusa.("Athena")
