Zeus, was a very important character in Greek mythology. Zeus was a chief god of the Olympian Pantheon, and he was the youngest child of the Titans Cronos and Rhea. It was said to be that Zeus was able to control rain, thunder, and lightening, and his symbols were a thunderbolt and a eagle(McCaffery). Zeus was married to Hera, Metis and Themis, and in all had 13 kids, Athena, Horae, Fates, Aphrodite, Apollo, Artemis, Dionysus, Hermes, Persephone, Muses, Hercules, Achilles, and Ajax (McCaffery).
Zeus's name is Indo-European, and it means "sky father". After becoming chief god Zeus created world order and he assigned each god or goddess a sphere of influence. Zeus was a God who ruled over both God and man. Zeus answered all prayers from the people and his indications were the occurrences of lightening and thunder. Zeus not only punished the evil but rewarded the heroic things people did(McCaffery).
